I'm running out of casinos to visit in AC! CET's are getting run down, won't visit anything with the Trump name, Revel's overpriced food, Trop's a mess, and now Atlantic Club! If they stole from Rational, guess what they have in store for customers, lol. Pokerstars NEEDS better contract lawyers! Maybe go after the state for slowing up the license process. Borg, Resorts and Golden Nugget, don't screw up or I'll have to move.

Now for Philly, there's no attraction to any of those casinos unless you happen to be there. Wynn will only take part of existing market. The "Live!" proposal makes the most sense.

Five casinos opened in Las Vegas between October of 1998 through August of 2000 at a total cost of $6.25 billion dollars: Bellagio ($1.8 billion dollars), Venetian ($1.6 billion dollars), Aladdin ($1.2 billion dollars), Mandalay Bay ($900 million dollars) and Paris ($750 million dollars).

Four of these casinos have done quite well since their opening and the Aladdin obviously went bankrupt pretty quick for various reasons.

Because of that success the next wave of casinos included City Center, Cosmopolitan, Fontainebleau and Echelon (which was sold to Genting). Fontainebleau was the least expensive ($3 billion) to build and never got finished.

For reasons mentioned above (very good blog entry) the next wave of casinos have done as well as telephones in telephone booths over the last five years. Not that bad but you get my point.

I visited the little Valley Forge casino this past weekend. The place was fresh and comfortable. It did not; however, look anything like that photo! The exterior is rather bland and boring.

I then took a spin to Sands, as I had never visited it before I was impressed with the place, the service and volumes of people. I too agree, LVS should hold for now. I thought Aqueduct was going to clean its clock; but then again, NY will get tables eventually too.

Gambling ships in Chicago? Of course they put that in the bill. You will have a great view of the city while you gamble and drink. Maybe they will hire Captain Stuebbing, Doc and Isaac from The Love Boat to work there.

According to the Golden Gate's Janea Laudick: "In the early 1900s there were only 144 miles of paved roads in the United States. In 1925, Fremont Street became Las Vegas’ first paved road."

It was the first street to be paved. The article says it was the first city to be paved.

Gross receipts tax on gaming and mining.

Mining? How much does mining pay (it can't be more than I pay on my personal taxes).
