Sex in the sky; Great month for Indiana

Gary Loveman‘s beloved Vegas High Roller has become Las Vegas‘ favorite place to expose oneself, with eight known instances to date. Let’s not pretend to be surprised by Linq revisedthis. Anyway, proving that what happens here often leads to a misdemeanor chargePhilip Frank Panzica III will be pleading out to disorderly conduct for having gone downtown on Chloe Scordianos. Since the latter is from Hicksville, New York, and Panzica hails from Houston, we can only conclude that this is one of those only-in-Vegas hookups. Scordianos is not folding so easily, demanding what could be the most prurient evidentiary hearing in the history of jurisprudence. “There was no public sex act. We want to review the video. How do you know there’s a sex act until you’ve seen the video. We don’t just take the police’s word on what the evidence is,” says her attorney. Thanks to her obstinacy, Scordianos faces a charge of committing sex acts in public, a felony. If this were a game of poker, she might be well advised to fold.

* February was a good month for Indiana, where casinos were up 7.5%. The southern Indiana market, in particular, continues to rebound nicely from competition in Ohio.
bluechip_exteriorOverall, bettors spent 5% more, as foot traffic increased 2.5%. Penn National Gaming, Pinnacle Entertainment and Boyd Gaming properties all exceeded Deutsche Bank analyst Carlo Santarelli‘s projections for the month. Boyd’s Blue Chip, up 15% ($13 million, pictured) is fend off tribal competition from Michigan handily. Ameristar East Chicago ($21 million, +13%) pulled market share from Horseshoe Hammond, although the latter ($36 million, -1%) is hardly pleading poverty. Both Majestic Star boats floated higher last month, with Majestic Star I up 11% ($8 million) and Majestic Star II ($6 million) rising 5%. Mid-state, French Lick Resort ($7 million) was up 32%.

The state’s two racinos continued the statewide revenue-positive trend, with Indiana belterraDowns up 11% on a $23 million gross. Hoosier Park enjoyed a 7.5% bump ($18 million). Along the Ohio River, the most dramatic gain was at Rising Sun, bouncing 21% on an (admittedly small) $4 million gross, while nearby Belterra rose 5.5% on $9 million. Hollywood Lawrenceburg‘s $15 million was good for a 2% gain while Horseshoe Southern Indiana rode a $21 million gross to a 4% gain. Faring well as usual was Tropicana Evansville, up 11% on a gross of $11 million. It wasn’t the best month Caesars Entertainment has ever had but it continues to dominate the Hoosier State when it comes to the number of dollars made.
