BoB still $29.99 … sorta

If you’re heading north out of McCarran International Airport on Swenson, be sure and have your digital cameras or cell phones at the ready. There, big as life, is a Harrah’s Entertainment billboard for the “Buffet of Buffets” (spotted at approximately 8:45 this a.m.) displaying the original $29.99 tab. If one takes Harrah’s at its word and you can produce time-stamped, photographic evidence, the company ought to honor the original BoB price.

I’ve not had time to trawl cyberspace but my sources tell me “Internet chatter” regarding Harrah’s now-you-see-it/now-you-don’t switcheroo on its BoB price has engendered considerable negative buzz. The new Las Vegas Advisor, just back from the printer, contains Anthony Curtis‘ breakdown of the the theoretical value of the BoB at its original price, which ranges anywhere from $65.89 to $103. As for the random manifestations of the $29.99 original pricetag, like that billboard, they continue to suggest that the 33% hike was a decision taken in haste, haphazardly executed.

Bargain seekers, you may finally have a reason to make the long trek north to Aliante Station. (Give Mr. Claus my regards as you pass the North Pole en route.) Station Casinos has knocked two bucks off its dinner buffet, while the company’s Santa Fe Station has shaved its dinner-buffet price by $3, bringing both to $13.99. Meanwhile, a show called The D Words has closed at Alexis Resort. The fact that this is the first time some of us are hearing of The D Words may vouchsafe a hint as to why it’s now D-funct.
