“And so this political deadlock conceals a religious war at its heart. Why after all should one abandon or compromise sacred truths? And for those whose Christianity can only be sustained by denial of modern complexity, of scientific knowledge, and of what scholarly studies of the Bible’s origins have revealed, this fusion of political and spiritual lives into one seamless sensibility and culture, is irresistible.” — Andrew Sullivan on the evolution (devolution?) of political parties into religious cults.

I tried to read the Andrew Sullivan article, but it was so vile and repugnant, not to mention full of prevarications, that it was difficult to finish. Let me stick to the point, progressives like Sullivan have made it a political strategy to stomp on religion in this country. It will not succeed. Thankfully, our constitution guarantees that Congress must, and I paraphrase, “leave religion alone, neither support it or prohibit it.” Why can’t the far left progressives and the religious right just leave it at that!
A real eye-opener… this is definitely not the same country I remember growing up in the 70’s…
