Now I know you guys have a high level of interest in — and affection for — the Riviera. How about if I told you that I’ll be interviewing Riv President Andy Choy tomorrow morning? And that he’s agreed to answer your questions? No preconditions: So the initiative is yours. Send me some good questions and I’ll ask ’em on your behalf.
Update: An ear infection has rendered Mr. Choy hors de combat until Thursday. You now have until Wednesday night to submit questions. Keep ’em coming!
Is is true that the elevator in the Riviera’s oldest tower is the oldest still-in-use elevator on the entire Strip? I got a good room there last month but had to move far from that elevator because it sounded like thunder claps on each trip up and down.
What is the Riviera doing to improve customer service? The thing I remember about my one brief visit there was how unfriendly some of the employees were. That was several years ago and some of the stories I have heard are far worse than what I experience.
Will you ever bring back the lounge area as it was so many years ago. Many great memories from there. I know you have several showrooms to have the shows you have there now. P.S. Good luck I always loved the Riv
1000X odds at craps may get a headline, but lousy odds on prop and field bets speak to real gamblers that your game is not the best in town. Lets see the 12 pay triple in the field and the hop bets pay 15 to 1 and 30 to 1, if not more.
I have been on the roof of the Riviera above the casino about 50 to 60 feet high above the Strip. Have you guys ever considered having an outdoor restaurant up there. I have seen some tables set up there for when you guys have a convention in your hotel but a permanent outdoor restaurant might work up there. March through November the weather might allow something like that to be possible.
Can the Riv survive if nothing is done with the Sahara, Fontanbleau or Eschelon sites for another 5 years? How long can a seasoned but old competitor survive in no mans land? The north end of the strip just looks awful despite the best efforts of the Riviera.
Also, will anything be done to ease the notoriously long check in lines?
ALSO, given your play regarding craps odds will the Riv consider offering video poker players a reason to walk into the door?
I’ve been coming to the Riviera for 50 years. It’s an old friend.
I like many of the changes you have made but there’s one change
you simply must consider.
The music you play in the Casino hasn’t changed for a very long
time. It’s all sad, lost love, women complaining about bad, bad
men and very loud music. It makes me want to run out of the
Casino. Don’t you think happy, lively music would be more
appropriate for having fun, staying & playing in your Casino?
I can’t tell you how much I hate your music. Even your
employees want to wear earplugs.

The Riv has been our home away from home for the last 20 years. I agree, please bring back the bands in the lounge. My favorite late nite thing was to go to my favorite machine, groove to the tunes and spend my money and people watch! Since the lounge is by the front doors, the people on the street would stroll in to listen and stay to play. Another suggestion is bring more resturants(?) to the food court, I am afraid it has gone WAAAAY down hill, in choices and quality. I am glad they brought the POKER room back. Now see if you can get Gail HOLM back as a dealer! She always brought in customers! She is sassy and good, never a dull table when she was dealing!
What happened with the interview with Mr Choy about the Riv? Anything you can tell us?
It took place last Thursday. The transcript should be online next week. Thanks for asking.
“Real gamblers” tend to stay away from the field and prop bets on the craps table. Lipstick on a pig. Anything above the “3,4,5” Strip standard for craps odds is outstanding, and should be lauded. I am finally planning a Vegas trip for this summer, and the Riv just enticed me to stop by…
I have been checking everyday but no transcript from the meeting with Mr Choy of the Riv? Did I miss it?
Today or tomorrow, I promise. It’s in the process of being transcribed.
